Capital Boulevard North Upgrades Move Forward
The Capital Boulevard project in Wake County is moving forward. The project will convert roughly 10 miles of Capital Blvd. / U.S. 1 from a four-lane roadway with partial access control to a six-lane fully controlled-access highway with interchanges. This means properties along this stretch of Capital Blvd. will lose their direct access to the highway and will have to rely on ramps at interchanges to access the road.
The project is expected to cost over $1.3 billion. After being studied as a potential toll road to help fund construction, the project will proceed as a traditional, non-tolled highway.
While construction is not likely to begin until 2031, right-of-way acquisition is underway. If you are contacted by an acquisition agent or have questions about how this project could impact your property, contact us.
